Grass, gravel, go.

An electric dirt bike sized for ages 5 to 8, with a slow mode for the first rides and a faster one for later.

MADD GEAR MY 1ST MINI ELECTRIC DIRT BIKE

What it is

A real dirt bike, sized for a first rider

Twist the grip and it goes. Let go and it stops pulling. No pedals, no gears, no clutch. Just a throttle, a brake and two foot pegs.

  • Two speed settings. Start them on the slow one, 8km/h, and switch to the faster one, 16km/h, once they have the hang of it
  • A safety feature on the brake. The brake must be squeezed for the throttle to work, so it cannot take off by accident
  • A 24V lead acid battery and a 160W brushless motor, so it has the torque for grass, gravel and a bit of a slope rather than just flat paths
  • 12" air filled knobby tyres for grip and a smoother ride on rough ground
  • Bike weight 14kg, light enough for a parent to lift into the car

Designed for use around private property. If you want to ride it somewhere else, check with your local authority first, as the rules vary by region.

Will it fit?

Feet flat, knees bent

It suits riders 107 to 127cm tall, ages 5 to 8, up to 50kg.

The ground to seat measurement is 40cm and fixed, so it does not adjust as they grow. Sit them on it: they should reach the foot pegs comfortably and be able to put a foot down when they stop.

Battery and charging

Charge it properly the first time

Give it 12 to 24 hours on the charger before the first ride, then 8 to 12 hours each time after that. The battery charges inside the bike.

A green light on the charger does not mean it is full. Leave it for the whole time. If the bike is stored, top it up at least once a month.

Up to 12km per charge, measured in low speed under ideal conditions: flat, smooth ground, a full battery and a lighter rider. Real range varies. In high speed, on hills or soft ground, in the cold, or with a heavier rider, the motor works harder and the battery runs down faster. Ridden mainly at high speed, expect roughly 20 to 25 minutes of riding. In low speed you will get closer to the full 12km.

Out of the box, screw in the bars and the foot pegs, adjust the brake, charge it up and you’re good to go. The video below shows you how.
